Try a practice that has worked for me in meetings where people are not listening, but instead thinking of what they are going to say in rebuttal. Here is your mission:
Before you say anything, tell her the best thing you liked about what she said. So your sentance will begin with the words, "What I liked best about what you said is......." This will force you to listen for SOMETHING you can admire in her ideas. That simple act will force the mental drawbridge down, and allow her ideas access to your brain. From there...who knows!

Before walking into the room with her, tell yourself that she'll say something that will be helpful, meaningful, good...whatever. Chances are you'll be more open, having already assumed that her talent and creativity will impress you!
